2017-Feb-19 Successful world cup competition in Skellefteå
On February 11, 2017 the association Dark & Cold held for the sixth consecutive year The Open Scandinavian Championship in winter swim. The competition, which was held in Skellefteå was also included for the second year in the World Cup.
– Winter Swim in Skelleftea growing year by year and now we had about 400 starters from 21 countries. Most have grown the number of relay teams. Previously there have been about 20 or so which has now expanded to 38 teams, says Lars Westerlund, chairman of Dark & Cold.
The contestants consisted of both amateurs and the swimmer who “lives for” the sport.
On the program was 25 meters breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 4×25 m breaststroke.
The youngest contestant was Latvian Alexandrs Jakovlevs, 15 years and the eldest was the Dane Jan Johansen, 77 years.
